Stephen Tayo is a 23-year-old photographer and stylist based in Lagos, Nigeria. After graduating from the university of Lagos where he majored in Philosophy he dove into styling and photography due to his love for Lagos. His work has been featured in Vogue, Coeval magazine and I-D magazine. We were able to have a sit down with Stephen to find out what truly drives and inspires him.
Well, we just stumbled upon a brilliant digital illustrator, Vince Fraser, transforming these static images into monochrome animated GIFs (Vince calls them “motion art”) – somehow making them even more hypnotic.
Whether you’re a fan of gallery walls or not, art has a place in all of our homes. One could even go as far as saying that art is what turns a house into home. With that in mind, tips for displaying art in your home are necessary, so you not only enhance it aesthetically, but you give it it’s own personality. This is whilst keeping in mind that your that what is on the wall is a reflection of you and your family.
Communities play an important role in the art industry, especially when it comes to supporting and nurturing African art. Once a community is supportive of an artist, the artist will find that both their success increases and their notoriety improves. Additionally, not only will the arts flourish, but the community will also see an increase in their tourist economy and in their overall morale. Below are just a few reasons why it’s important for communities to support local art.
