Halloween is an annual holiday celebrated each year on October 31st which originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. Over the years, Halloween has evolved to be something less serious but all the same, has become a big deal for the fun of it.
Amarachi Kelechi Odimba has a vibrant personality which guides her artistic expressions. Bold colours, large brush strokes, colour drips and layering are techniques synonymous with her creations.
Born in Aba, Abia State in 1985, creativity has always been a part of her life. Drawing references from books in her home library, she would scribble on the walls of her home with art materials provided by her parents. At the time, it was her best means of expression for a while.
Sculpture is an artistic form made by one of four basic processes – carving, casting, modelling and constructing to yield a three-dimensional art piece.
The history of sculpture dates as far back as prehistoric art. Believed to be one of the earliest forms of art, sculpture has played many roles including immortalization, decoration and religious purposes, as a means for man to feel closer to a supreme being and even till date, sculpture fulfils a monumental purpose.
Stephen Tayo is a 23-year-old photographer and stylist based in Lagos, Nigeria. After graduating from the university of Lagos where he majored in Philosophy he dove into styling and photography due to his love for Lagos. His work has been featured in Vogue, Coeval magazine and I-D magazine. We were able to have a sit down with Stephen to find out what truly drives and inspires him.
