Some people travel often and like to collect postcards as memorabilia of places visited or, if they are into the arts, they visit exhibitions where postcards of the works available for purchase. Meanwhile, there are others who love the idea of collecting post cards but don’t because they believe that they’ll eventually litter their space.
Whether you’re a fan of gallery walls or not, art has a place in all of our homes. One could even go as far as saying that art is what turns a house into home. With that in mind, tips for displaying art in your home are necessary, so you not only enhance it aesthetically, but you give it it’s own personality. This is whilst keeping in mind that your that what is on the wall is a reflection of you and your family.
Some philosophers or theories say that art is a way to imitate what you see, as such accuracy and honesty in art are highly valued.
Plato’s theory on art purports that art is nothing more than a copy of a copy of an ideal, thrice removed. Using a couch as an example he believed that the true artist was a god, who then inspired the carpenter, who then inspired the painter.
At first, trying to demystify a piece of contemporary art, especially abstract pieces, could be daunting. In fact, many people new to the form, struggle with it.
In truth however, it is not as complicated as it seems. More often than not, contemporary art reflects socio-political and technological changes of a given place in recent years. Contemporary art also questions societal values and assumptions, especially post-modernism.
